Meet Dr. Kend
Steven J. Kend, D.D.S., F.A.C.D., F.I.C.D.
Dr. Kend graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1967 with an A.B. degree in biological sciences. He continued his education at the University of Southern California’s School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1971 with a D.D.S. degree and passed the National Dental Boards and the Dental Boards of the State of California the same year.
Dr. Kend’s dental practice focuses on general, restorative and rehabilitative dental services. He has been practicing in the Torrance area for over 40 years. During this time, he has been involved in many professional study groups and associations. He is an active member of the Western Los Angeles Dental Society, the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Kend completed a ten-year term on the Peer Review Committee for the Western Los Angeles Dental Society as well as a two-year term as a member of the Peer Review Council of the California Dental Association.
He has served on the Board of Directors, as Treasurer of the 27,000 member California Dental Association, and the Chair of the Board of Directors of The Dentists Insurance Company. He has also served on numerous other boards and committees, including as the past Chair of the Audit Committee of the California Dental Association and Chair of the Finance Committee of The Dentists Insurance Company. On the national level, Dr. Kend has served as a delegate to the American Dental Association, on its Audit Committee and as a member of the American Dental Association's Committee for Strategic Planning. He has been inducted as a Fellow into the prestigious American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Kend has been married for fifty-two years to his wife Laurie, a now retired dental hygienist (B.S., University of Southern California, 1971). His older son, a graduate of England’s Oxford University, resides in Los Angeles and works in the entertainment industry. His younger son graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, has a graduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, was a 2005/2006 Fulbright Scholar, and currently works in the real estate industry. Outside the office, Dr. Kend is an avid walker and backpacker, and delights in being with his 12 year old granddaughter and 10-year old grandson.
